Dureg Dominion
Dourust
Dourust is a rocky planet with a thick atmosphere that is rich in carbon dioxide, methane, and sulfur dioxide. The planet has a strong greenhouse effect that keeps the surface temperature extremely high, around 400°C on average. The planet has a day-night cycle of about 36 hours, and no seasons due to its low axial tilt and low orbital eccentricity.
Dourust has a barren geography that consists mostly of volcanic plains, craters, and canyons. The planet has very few mountains or hills, due to its high surface gravity and tectonic activity. The planet has no surface water, except for some acidic lakes and rivers near volcanic vents. The planet also has frequent volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and dust storms.
Dourust has no native life forms, except for some extremophilic bacteria that live in the volcanic regions. The planet was colonized by the Dureg’s, who arrived from another star system in search of minerals and metals. The Dureg’s are a species of subterranean dwelling mole-like humanoids, who have adapted to the harsh environment of Dourust. The Dureg's have since claimed Dourust as their Capital and have built expansive tunnel networks and underground cities deep below the planetary crust.
Volzrei
Volzrei is a natural satellite of Dourust, orbiting at a distance of about 100,000 kilometers from the planet’s center. The moon has a diameter of about 2,000 kilometers, making it about the same size as Earth’s moon. The moon has a mass of about 7.3 x 10^22 kilograms, giving it a surface gravity of about 0.16 m/s^2, or about 1.6% of Earth’s gravity.
Volzrei has a very thin atmosphere, consisting mostly of helium and hydrogen, with traces of other gases. The atmospheric pressure at the surface is about 0.001 millibars, or about one billionth of Earth’s atmospheric pressure. The atmosphere provides no protection from solar radiation or meteoroids, making the surface very hostile to life.
Volzrei has a relatively smooth surface, with few craters or mountains. The surface is mostly covered by regolith, a layer of loose dust and rocks that results from the bombardment of meteoroids and solar wind. The regolith has a grayish-brown color, and reflects about 10% of the sunlight that reaches it. The surface temperature varies from about -150°C at night to about 100°C during the day.
Volzrei is utilized by the Dureg’s as a massive space station and dry dock for starship construction. The Dureg’s have built several large structures on the surface and in orbit of the moon, using their advanced technology and engineering skills. These structures include:
The moon has many amenities that make it an invaluable asset to the Dureg's and their operations. A space elevator, which connects the surface of the moon to a geostationary orbit, allowing easy transportation of materials and personnel between the moon and space. A space dock, which is a facility that can repair or build spacecraft, similar to maritime shipyards on Earth. The space dock can accommodate various sizes and types of spacecraft, from small shuttles to large interstellar ships. A space station, which is a habitable artificial satellite that provides living and working space for the Dureg’s and their allies. The space station has various modules, such as laboratories, factories, warehouses, docks, habitats, and defense systems. A space telescope, which is an instrument that can observe distant objects in space, such as stars, planets, galaxies, and nebulae. The space telescope can provide valuable scientific data and information for the Dureg’s and their allies.
Gaelara
Gaelara is a terrestrial planet that orbits a red giant star, which is an old and dying star that has expanded and cooled over time. The planet has a high axial tilt, which means it has extreme seasonal variation. The planet’s year is about 600 Earth days long, and its day is about 15 Earth hours long.
Gaelara has a thin atmosphere that is mostly composed of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfur dioxide, with traces of hydrogen, helium, and water vapor. The atmosphere is not breathable for humans or most other life forms, and requires special equipment or adaptations to survive. The planet’s surface pressure is about 0.7 Earth atmospheres.
Gaelara’s surface is mostly covered by red rock biomes, which are arid and rocky regions that are rich in iron oxide and other minerals. The land is dry, barren, and dusty, with few plants and animals. The most common vegetation is a type of moss that can grow on rocks and metals. The most common animals are insects, spiders, and scorpions that have adapted to the harsh environment.
Gaelara’s most abundant resource is the precious metals that are found in its crust and mantle, such as gold, silver, pyrite, iron, and many more. These metals are formed by the fusion of lighter elements in the core of the red giant star, and then ejected into space by stellar winds or explosions. Some of these metals are then captured by the gravity of Gaelara, and incorporated into its structure .
Gaelara is inhabited by several factions that compete for the control of the precious metals and other resources. Some of these factions are:
The Duregs: The native inhabitants of Gaelara, who are mole-like creatures that have claimed the planet. They have a subterranean culture that values mining, engineering, and trade. They build massive fortress cities underground, such as Havusti, where they store their wealth and technology. They are friendly to other Duregs who share their clan or alliance, but wary of the humans who invade them.
The Humans: The alien settlers who came to Gaelara from other planets in search of fortune and adventure. They have a colonial culture that values progress, freedom, and innovation. They use advanced technology to survive and explore the planet, and wear protective suits to cope with the atmosphere. They build temporary bases on the surface or near the entrances to the underground tunnels, where they launch their expeditions and operations. They are friendly to other humans who share their interests or goals, but wary of the Duregs who oppose them.
The Pirates: The outlaws who operate in Gaelara’s orbit and surface, raiding ships and settlements for loot and plunder. They have a pirate culture that values greed, cunning, and thrill. They use stolen or modified technology to attack and evade their enemies, and wear camouflage or stealth gear to blend in with the environment. They are hostile to anyone who crosses their path or challenges their authority.
Bengorth
Bengorth is a terrestrial planet that orbits a yellow-white star, which is similar to the Sun in size and brightness. The planet has a low axial tilt, which means it has little seasonal variation. The planet’s year is about 400 Earth days long, and its day is about 25 Earth hours long.
Bengorth has a thin atmosphere that is mostly composed of nitrogen, oxygen, and water vapor, with traces of carbon dioxide, methane, and pheromones. The atmosphere is breathable for humans and most other life forms, but very humid and fragrant. The planet’s surface pressure is about 0.9 Earth atmospheres.
Bengorth’s surface is mostly covered by dense forests of brittle light blue trumpet-shaped plants, which are the dominant vegetation on the planet. The plants have a symbiotic relationship with the light green fluttering creatures, which are the dominant animals on the planet. The plants provide shelter and food for the creatures, while the creatures pollinate and protect the plants.
Bengorth’s most unique feature is its network of tunnels that extends under much of the surface, which are created and inhabited by the Duregs, who are mole-like creatures that evolved on another planet. They have a subterranean culture that values mining, engineering, and trade. They communicate using clicks and vibrations, and have a keen sense of smell and touch. They mine the crystals that are found in the underground caves or near geothermal vents, where they are formed by high pressure and temperature. The crystals emit a faint glow that can be seen in the dark, and have different colors depending on their purity and composition.
Bengorth’s most mysterious feature is its pheromones that induce memory loss, which are produced by the plants and the creatures on the planet. The pheromones affect the brain chemistry of anyone who inhales them, causing them to forget their past memories or events. The pheromones have different effects depending on the dose and duration of exposure, ranging from mild confusion to complete amnesia.
